Selkirk Rally

Since it began in 1993, the Selkirk Rally has become the biggest vintage car rally in Scotland, growing from 80 to 1884 exhibitors and 300 to 4000 visitors.

Organised by a committee of twelve members led by Chairman Mike Povey with wife Maria as rally secretary, the rally features displays of veteran, vintage, post vintage, post war cars, motorcycles, bicycles, commercial vehicles, tractors, stationary engines, collections and steamers in the main field at Sunderland Hall as well as runs by the exhibitors around the Borders countryside.

Exhibitors travel from all over the UK to show their vehicles in all 28 classes, also autojumble, crafts and charity stalls.

Now a well-established event in the national vintage car enthusiasts’ calendar, research by Scottish Borders Council estimates that the Rally brings at least £170,000 to the Borders economy each year, with many visitors returning year after year.
